Great and Near Great Guests
The inn, which was built in 1901 has been host to everyone
from famous to infamous. The author Jack London stayed during
his Hawaiian travels. Sun Yat Sen's and W.H. Fields are other
famous names that appear on early guest registers.
Lahaina was site of the filming, "The Devil at Four
O'Clock" and Spencer Tracy and Frank Sinatra were guests
in 1961. More recently, Tom Robbins used the Pioneer Inn as
inspiration for his novel "Still Life with Mockingbirds"
and Jackie Kennedy Onassis shared Sunday breakfast with friends
in the restaurant.
