Arts Festival
Join us to celebrate the annual migration of Pacific Humpback
Whales with a week-end festival
showcasing ocean arts, crafts and live music.
MAY
In Celebration of Canoes
Maui's Signature Cultural Event honors the voyaging canoe.
Master carvers from Pacific islands
come together to create Polynesian canoes from wood logs.
Evens include: an 'awa ceremony,
Festival of canoes and parade and a ceremonial canoe launch.
JUNE
King Kamehameha Day Parade & Ho'olaule'a
A colorful floral parade down Front Street features traditional
Pa'u riders on horses decorated
with exotic island flowers. An awards ceremony and festival
follow at Banyan tree park.
JULY
Old Fashioned 4th of July
Visit the many oceanfront restaurants and lounges for an
Independence Day with fireworks
lighting the night sky over Lahaina's roadstead.
AUGUST
He U'I Cultural Arts Anniversary
Celebrate something beautiful with a multi-cultural arts
festival which includes live entertainment,
Hawaiian-style, under the Banyan tree.
SEPTEMBER
A Taste of Lahaina and the Best of Island Music
Maui County's largest culinary festival, this feast of fine
foods, beer and wines, cooking
demonstrations and the talent of current and legendary Hawaiian
musicians now attracts an
audience of over 25,000. Opening gala is the Maui Chef's
Presents which spotlights 12 of the
islands most innovative chefs at a dinner and cocktail party
under the stars.
OCTOBER
Halloween in Lahaina
The Great Halloween Costume Contest, Front Street closed
to vehicle traffic, a children's
costume parade, food and activity booths and music in the
streets combine to make Lahaina "The
Mardi-Gras of the Pacific. Also in October, Aloha Festival
Maui is a Hawaiian celebration with
Royal Court appearances held in Banyan Tree Park.
DECEMBER
Holiday
Lighting of the Banyan Tree
Lahaina opens the holiday season with the lighting of thousands
of colored lights on its landmark
Banyan Tree, a visit from Sant, Christmas carols and hula.
YEAR-ROUND IN LAHAINA
Friday Night is Art Night
Every
Friday evening year-round, stroll through dozens of art
galleries from seven until ten p.m. for special shows, featured
artists in action and refreshments -
all free and open to the public.
